Recommended For Valentine Weekend

There are several things going down in the art world this week end. What with it being a Valentine weekend and all. Anyways of the invitations I got in my inbox, the most interesting one was from AFRIUNI PRODUCTIONS. It informed me that:

“AFRIUNI PRODUCTIONS invites you for a Kikuyu comedy ‘WEMENYE’ to be staged at the Kenya Cultural Centre opposite Norfolk Hotel, on the 14th Feb 2010 at 4pm and 6pm respectively. Charges are 300/= per head. For reservation call 0725-590921/0732-937847. Be prepared to crack your bones or maybe carry an extra pair of ribs!! See yah all then.”

A rather interesting take and invitation and would have been a must go if only we could understand Kikuyu. Or may be take a translator with us. Always like things that remind us about our communal roots – positively – and so I would probably end there. Recommended this for the weekend.

And then, it is not always a bad idea to spend Valentines laughing, whether you are alone or with a mate.

And being single and all, such an unValentine Valentine day laughter is really all a Nairobian chick can do.
