The Curious Case of a Helicopter Ride

Some stuff you just cannot make up. Like this one. Not so long ago, a Kenyan businessman on his way to Mombasa found himself stalled on the notorious Mombasa Road traffic jam. A jam that was so bad that there was just no way he was going to make it to Jomo Kenyatta Airport in time for his flight to Mombasa. Left with no viable option theNairobian opted to drive into Wilson Airport, chartered a helicopter ride to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and sat back all smug and pleased with himself. Catastrophy averted. Meeting all but now attended.

They (whoever they are) say that theNairobian god has a wicked sense of humour. It is just not content in letting people have their way. So, as the helicopter approached Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the control tower informed the pilot that there was no landing space available at Unit 3 and it could only land at the Cargo area.

The pilot thereafter proceeded to land at the Cargo area, theNairobian businessman duly alighted and commenced his journey for his flight. A few steps into his penultimate stage of his journey to Mombasa however, theNairobian businessman was duly accosted by Airport security and detained for trespassing.

Consequently, instead of attending the very important business meeting, our hero spent a weekend as a guest of the state with an embossed invitation to attend to The Presiding Magistrate, Makadara and answer to charges of trespass.
