One of the most promising young African footballers, if not the best defensive midfielder in the premier league, and one of the best strikers Africa has ever produced , Alexandre Bilong Song and Samuel Eto’o respectively, and their National Team, Cameroon, have been in Nairobi these past few days in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations 2010 finals.
The Cameroon National Team culminated their preparations with a friendly match against Kenya. The Kenyan national team comprised the local players with the players plying their trade in foreign countries not being involved.
Well, that inconsequential history of Cameroon never losing to Kenya in Kenya was finally put to bed with Cameroon thrashing Kenya by three goals to one. And this was achieved without the aforementioned Alex Song (who turns up for the English Premier League side the Arsenal) and Samuel Eto’o not playing. For what it’s worth, Kenyan fans may feel compelled to say that if we had our good old Dennis Oliech – who scores less than he misses for the Harambee Stars – and those other big name guys like Macdonald Mariga, Mambo, Oboya – who are continually ‘moving’ to bigger clubs – then the score-line might have been different.
And the Arsenal midfielder got a taste of Nairobi when he was mobbed by both his Nairobian fans and one particular Nairobian, identity unknown, who made away with his sunglasses.
